Overseas

A number of other countries have conducted comparable, although not identical, research assessment exercises.

For the United Kingdom, the Higher Education Funding Council for England (HEFCE) - Research Assessment site is the most comprehensive.    The Research Assessment Exercise 2008 site is also very informative, and includes an interesting news item about Electronic access to authoritative publications for RAE 2008.

For New Zealand, see Ministry of Education - The Performance Based Research Fund

For Hong Kong, see University Grants Committee - Research Assessment Exercise

For Ireland, see Higher Education Authority - Programme for Research in Third-Level Institutions

Technology issues relating to repositories and research assessment are dealt with by Leslie Carr & John MacColl, Managers of the Institutional Repositories and Research Assessment Project, in their paper RAE Software for Institutional Repositories
